Performing arts in
China plays a huge role in the countries culture and has throughout
the years. Dance in China is one of the oldest art forms known in
China and can date back five thousand years. A traditional Chinese
Dance called Feitan, which originated from the gansu province which
can feature many dancers dressed in head dresses with silk and loose
forming clothes, it has all of the dancers moving together in sync in
a very graceful fashion and requires a lot of flexibility and
balance.
Another art form in China is music, in early China music played an important role in ritual and stagecraft. Bronze bells were instruments of investiture and reward. A set of Bronze bells from a tomb in the ancient state of Zeng in Hubei province which were buried in 430 BC and contained 64 bells each of which produces two distinct tuned strike notes. Over 120 instruments were originated in china including Stringed Zithers, Mouth Organs, Flutes, Drums, and Stone Chimes. Music helped provide a structure for activities in the courts of rulers in the Feudal hierarchy.
